The kitchen measure or measuring cup is used to portion cooking and baking ingredients such as flour, sugar, milk, water and other cold or hot liquids. Two scales on the inside of the kitchen measure or measuring cup show liters in centiliter increments or in 1/4 or 1/8 liter (depending on the size of the kitchen measure), which is the traditional Austrian unit of measurement for liquids.

The measuring cup has a comfortable handle on the side and a spout, called a spout, with which liquids can be easily poured out. The edge of the kitchen measure is curved - in enamel language this is called a flanged edge.

The material enamel consists of iron that has been fused with glass at high temperatures, i.e. from natural raw materials.
